Welcome to Middle-earth, the richly detailed fantasy world created by J.R.R. Tolkien. This enchanting realm, home to hobbits, elves, dwarves, and humans, is filled with ancient forests, snow-capped mountains, and mystical lands. Original line art from “Beast of Tolkien: A Colouring Book” by Mauro Mazzara and Andrea Piparo serves as the starting point for this project.
I’ve reimagined these fantastical inhabitants using my unrefined inking technique: black markers for backgrounds and Uni Pin fineliners for character details. My inking process was characterized by a fluid, intuitive approach. I didn’t concern myself with uniform strokes or consistent ink usage. Instead, I allowed myself to drift between details, guided solely by my intuition and the joy of creation. As I worked, I found myself lost in the process, my mind quiet and spirit at peace. The phrase I repeated to myself throughout was simple yet powerful: “The outcome doesn’t matter.” This mantra allowed me to focus on the present moment, letting go of any anxiety about the final result.
