Fire-drakes | Uruloki

I was stubborn with this one.

I didn’t want to search for reference images. I told myself — just let it flow, you’ll figure it out. Over and over. It became a quiet tug-of-war in my head, where one part of me craved structure, and the other just wanted to see what would happen if I didn’t look anything up.

No plan. Just ink and whatever idea came next.

I kept wondering… how should fire-drake skin look? Or their wings? How can I differentiate the arms, legs, tails, or scales when inking? Every scratch on the paper was a guess. I’d pause. Think. Then draw anyway.

I still laugh at the rock I drew — it barely looks like one. I got lost in the motion. It doesn’t bother me, though. Not really.

This one was a bit of a ride. Chaotic, frustrating, oddly fun. I don’t regret taking it on. I still remember figuring things out as I went, which felt worth more than getting every detail “right.”

And the piece?
Still turned out better than I expected.
